Namiseom Island (Winter Sonata)
Many scenes of the Korean Drama Winter Sonata (“Gyeoul Yeonga” - Autumn in my Heart) were shot in this island. Namiseom Island is 63 km away from Seoul in the direction of Chuncheon, and is famous for its beautiful tree lined roads. A leisurely walk around the island will take approximately 2~3 hours. Bicycles can be rented at the administrative office located near the center of the island. Summer tourists can enjoy boating around the island, but fall is certainly the loveliest time of year here.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress
Hwaseong Fortress is the official fortress of Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, from the latter days of Joseon Period (1392-1910). The fortress began construction in 1794 and finished in 1796. The fortress wall is 5.52km long and it has a great variety of military facilities you cannot find at other fortress. Hwaseong Fortress was constructed under the advice of Yu Hyeong-Won (1622~1673) and Jeong Yak-Yong (1762~1836). The fortress walls were built very scientifically using Seokjae and Jeondol (bricks). Suwonhwaseong went through many turbulent times and damage. The fortress restoration initiative started in 1975, and finished in 1979. The fortress became designated as Historical Monument No. 3, in January 1963, and in December 1997, it was designated on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage Site.
Hwaseonghaenggung
Haenggung means a shelter where King rested or retired from a war.
Hwaseonghaenggung castle is the biggest shelter where Kings used it since the Jeongjo King period.
